nice

some cool sweep sounds in this. i also like the bass rhythms and of course the hispanic beat is always good. The production on this is excellent you really fill out the audio spectrum nicely and I can hear all the parts clearly. good woork.

Thanks for returning the review!

It is true, I spent quite some time on mixing and mastering ;)

too bad this is lo-fi version

Good start from the very beginning. You got what could be a really good song. However, you never take it anywhere so its basically just a loop. It kinda sounds like there is tempo issues or something around when it repeats it slows down a bit.

ah this song is very nice. reminds me a little of something i might hear while playing kingdom hearts. very veerry relaxing wow.

ya the drums were kind of unnecessary and it sounded like the reason factory sound bank hip hop kit to me (i may be wrong). Anyhow if you were gonna have drums in this perhaps a more ambient sounding kit would have been better. Less tight sounding more reverb.

ive heard so many songs that add the cheesy waves sound effect which i tend to expect more in new age meditation music. however, this was the only one where it didn't bother me. so good job with that. the addition of the crickets made me imagine a tropical beach for whatever reason.

gooooood stuff

the intro reminded me a little bit of the requiem for a dream soundtrack during the creepy parts. anyhow, i liked the distortion you put on stuff to give it interesting textures. try distorting a pad sound and sometimes you get this crazy sound that just screams. well i really liked this track but the only thing which bothered me was the ocean like white noise sounds. they seemed a little too loud too me and they kinda just clouded up the music. i would have like to hear the rest of the instrumentation clearer. but ya, i got your ep as well and i am enjoying on it. stuff like this is why i still come to newgrounds.

SineRider responds:

I did notice sometimes when I listened to it with headphones, the ocean sounds were a bit loud, but when I listened on speakers it seemed fine. Ah well

Thankies :)

well

haha i feel like i owe you another review since i just reviewed the same song without realizing it. i knew it sounded familiar but i just figured i had listened to it before sometime without reviewing haha.

your music has a non-obtrusive feel to it that i like. its really easy to listen to and just relax. but you can also pay attention to it and notice all the detail and tactful programming. the only thing i think you could have done on this is just fix the bass up. sometimes it sounded fine but then sometimes it made this clicking sound which was harsh to my delicate ears. just smooth it out and you'll be fine.

wooo. anyhow. ill 5 this so you get to the top of the miscellaneous. later.

attemptedperfection responds:

Thanks for the review! so I have "tactful" programming? awesome. Yeah, I wasn't too happy with the bass, but it took me forever to just get the tone to where it was, and I pretty much hit a brick wall with it, so decided to keep it as it was. Thanks again for the review!

nice

an interesting track. i like the I-iv-I progression over the tonic bass you got going. the stereo panning on the hi-hats works as well. this would go great as music for a video game kinda has a happy quality to it that i like. the fast 16th notes are cool too. good stuff.

attemptedperfection responds:

You already reviewed this one! XD

granted, it wasn't quite finished then... thanks for the re-review though; according to your ratings, it has been improved. Improvement is good.

nice

cool song. i liked the crescendoing with the guitar and the solos. a different snare couldve helped. or perhaps some reverb on the drums. but ya it seems like you got some skills with the guitar and for that you have my respect.

Quarl responds:

Ar, thanks for the review.

very nice

wow im glad i came to your page. this was a very nice piece. relaxing indeed. kind of reminded me a bit of Joe Hisaishi especially the soft piano. what program do you use if you don't mind me asking? the flute sounds were great. my only recommendation would be to try and make the piano less programmed sounding unless you are trying to get that video game style sound in which case it works.

anyhow, the first song i submitted is a classical one. id be interested in knowing what you think and if you have any ideas on how to finish it.

5/5!

MaestroRage responds:

I've never heard of Joe Hisaishi... but now I must find out who this artist is! I love landscape music like this, and if he does the same, then i'm totally there!

I use Fruity Studio's for my compositions, however the sounds you are hearing have nothing to do with Fruity (which serves only as a host program), the sounds you are hearing are VST's, from East West that is pretty much a library of high quality samples.

The piano does sound programmed, I had to use a rather lower quality one as I don't have the RAM to host all these instruments plus the 400MB piano :(

I'll definitely check out your submission.

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!
